The best way to empty and drain your hot tub

However carefully you look after your water quality, it’s obvious that that eventually you’re going to have to drain a hot tub and start again fresh. With all the chlorine in the world, eventually the water in a hot tub will become dull, grey, frothy and unsafe to use.

Draining a hot tub is not like pulling the plug on in the bath! So, where do you start?

When to drain a hot tub

The frequency of draining really depends on how much you use your tub. Hydropool advises emptying and refilling your tub every 12 weeks depending on how many people have been bathing. If your tub has been used daily or less frequently will also depend on how often you need to replace the water.

It’s definitely time to change when you see grey or dull looking water. That signifies that the chemical balance cannot be maintained any longer. Dull, grey water is also unsafe for hygienic bathing.

The best time of day to drain a hot tub is the morning, so you have the day ahead to clean the acrylic, wipe the cover and keep an eye on the hose pipe when refilling. That way, you’ll have a sparkling clean tub all ready to use the next day.

The Hydropool difference

With a Hydropool Self-Cleaning system, the water stays cleaner water for longer meaning fewer water changes and less hassle.

100% of the water passes through Hydropool’s patented filteration system every 15 minutes so you can enjoy clean bathing any time of day.
