Are you considering buying a hot tub?

Heard some hot tub myths that have concerned you?

We’re here to dispel the most common hot tub myths, so you can sit back and purchase worry-free.

Myth 1: You must use chlorine

If you’re adverse to the thought of bathing in chlorine, don’t worry! There are alternatives that still give you all the sanitation without that distinctive swimming pool aroma.
Bromine is an alternative sanitising chemical that works best at higher temperatures, so perfect for use in a hot tub. It also doesn’t have the distinctive chlorine odour.
With saltwater technology, your hot tub is sanitised more naturally. HydroClear patented technology purifies water using 50% less chemicals. By utilising ozone, the water is oxidised naturally, passing through a UV light. The combination of the two creates more oxygen to reduce calcium or biofilm build up in the pipes.

It’s worth mentioning that if you have the correct balance of chemicals and the right pH level when using chlorine, the smell should be only slight.

Myth 2: Hot tubs take a lot of maintaining

Not true! A quick 5-minute check every week is all it takes to check that your hot tub is sanitary and safe to use. Testing and topping up of chemicals will become part of your routine. Hydropool’s Self-Cleaning models filter 100% of the water in just 15 minutes so you’re reassured of hygienic water that’s safe for all the family and your friends. Yorkshire Hot Tubs also offer comprehensive service packages to maintain the parts within your tub. Contact us for more info.

Myth 3: Hot tubs are expensive to run

Think your electric bills will skyrocket when you plug in your tub? No way! Thanks to Hydropool’s superior quality insulation guarding against unnecessary heat loss, you’ll be confident that that your electricity is not being wasted. For pennies a day, you can keep your hot tub running at 37 degrees constantly.

Myth 4: The more jets the better

Not necessarily. Whilst you may think a hot tub jam-packed with jets will give you a better massage experience, Hydropool jets are fully targeted to key areas of your body depending on seat depth. Trying the different seat depths in your tub will ensure you target key areas of your body. For example, the S Shape immersion lounger incorporates jets aimed at key areas such as the neck, back, calf and wrists.

Myth 5: You need to turn your hot tub off when not in use

False! Why turn off your hot tub when you can keep it running cheaply and know that you can jump in and use it whenever you want? The only time you may need to drain your hot tub is if you are not living in your property or not using it over the winter. Otherwise, a hot tub is the ultimate in luxury during in the winter so keep it ready for a dip day or night!

Myth 6: Buying a cheap hot tub saves you money

Sorry to break the news but buying a cheaper hot tub may cost you more in the long run on heating bills, maintenance and time. This is one of the most common hot tub myths. Whilst inflatable versions cost you on average £500 to buy, you’re likely to receive higher electric bills due to poorer quality insulation and heat loss from the cover. You may also find that due to the high costs of running, you decide to drain, deflate and pack your inflatable tub away. Such a shame!

With a Hydropool hot tub, you can be certain that the very best quality insulation is used within the cabinetry for maximum heat protection. The hot tub covers are also made of quality density materials with added insulation and fit each hot tub like a glove to guard against heat loss. With all the money saved on heating, you can sit back and relax in the knowledge that you can keep your tub switched on, running 365 days a year. Ready to use at any time!

Myth 7: You can’t exercise in a hot tub

Wrong! You may believe that swim spas are the best option for exercise, but there are several strengthening and cardio exercises you can perform from the comfort of your own tub. Body twists, squats and lunges all get your heart rate up and strengthen your core at the same time. All with minimal impact on your joints. Great for those of us who favour a gentler workout.
